Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Clankmaxx, a subscription desktop application for macOS. By purchasing a subscription or using the app, you agree to them.
The service
Clankmaxx is a desktop AI companion: a chat assistant with persistent memory, optional integrations (Canvas, Calendar, Reminders), lecture and meeting notes, user-requested screen understanding, and a desktop mascot. AI answers are generated by third-party models reached through Clankmaxx's managed cloud; an internet connection is required for chat and related features.
Subscription and billing
- Clankmaxx costs $10 per month, billed in advance by Stripe, renewing each month until canceled.
- After checkout you'll receive a license key. Keep it — it's the credential that activates the app, and it's how we identify your subscription if you need help.
- You can cancel anytime from your Stripe customer portal (linked in your receipt). Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues through the end of the current paid month. See Refunds & cancellation.
- If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it; your access continues for a grace period while that sorts itself out.
- Fair-use limits apply: a monthly usage allowance and a daily lecture-notes audio allowance (6 hours). They exist to keep the service fast and priced at $10 for everyone; exceeding them pauses the affected feature until the allowance resets.
Your license
Your subscription licenses Clankmaxx for your personal use on up to 2 Macs at a time. You can deactivate a Mac in the app's Settings to free its slot. Please don't share your license key publicly — a key shared beyond your own machines may be deactivated to keep the service fair.
Using it responsibly
- Recordings. Lecture and meeting notes record audio from a window you select, at your explicit command. Recording calls may require notifying or getting consent from other participants — that responsibility is yours, and the app says so each time.
- Academic integrity. Clankmaxx is a study companion, not a way around your school's rules. You're responsible for using it within your institution's academic honesty policies.
- No abuse. Don't use the service for anything unlawful, don't probe or disrupt the backend, and don't attempt to bypass licensing or usage limits.
Your data
Your content is yours. The Privacy Policy describes what's stored on your Mac, what leaves it and when, and the controls you have. Nothing in these terms gives us ownership of your conversations, memories, notes, or files.
Eligibility
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (or use the app with a parent or guardian's agreement) to subscribe.
Changes
The app evolves — features are added, adjusted, or occasionally removed over time, and these terms may change with it. Material changes will be posted here and noted in release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you don't agree, you can cancel your subscription.
Disclaimers and liability
Clankmaxx is provided “as is.” It's a tool for organization, memory, and study support — not professional, medical, legal, or academic advice, and AI-generated answers can be wrong; double-check anything that matters (dates, deadlines, requirements) against the source. To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you've paid us in the three months before it.
